Chocolate Milk

I swear, Mondays sneak up on you every time. Where does the weekend GO???

Ugh.

So...we have had a rough 2 weeks. Ben's mom passed away early last Friday and we have been traveling a lot back and forth in the past week and a half. There was a wonderful memorial service for her this past Friday, as well as an open house on Saturday, where we got to catch up with lots of old and new family/friends. Stories were shared, food was eaten, and I think we had a great time remembering my awesome MIL. I think that the pastor said it best on Friday night when he said (paraphrasing) "we will always have the memories of her...so she won't really ever leave us." And I think that's a very true statement.

For example, whenever I make schnecken I know I'm going to think about how Ben's mom always made sure there were just 2 or 3 raisins in each one. Or how both her and I were NOT huge fans of super spicy General Tso's, and I would always eat a lot of broccoli, while she just had the minimum amount. There are lots of things, both big and little, that Ben and I will have to remember her by, and while it is hard to imagine her gone, we can always think back to those times with happiness.

Right now it's still pretty tough though :-/

Well and then we had to come home to reality, and Monday morning came wayyyyyy to quickly and before I knew it here I was, on my break from school, wondering how kids could be so ridiculous when I was gone for only 3 days.

That's why I brought chocolate milk for lunch :)

Adventures of Ariel: the Disney Kitten - A Typical Day

Dear Mom,

OhmyGOSHHHHHH what is that fun fun fun toy you brought home that is fuzzy and twirly and impossible to understand?? I think you called it a pipe cleaner? Well I don't get how you could clean a pipe with it but it is so much funnnnnn and I love it! Can I play with it again and again and again? Phew I am tired out. I think I'll nap on your tummy now. Isn't my purr loud? Yes, of course you can keep petting me. Why are you stopping? Don't stop, it'll wake me up. Yes, right on my head. Scratch riiiiiiiiight there. Whoa whoooooooa WHOA! Sorry Mom, I didn't mean to slip off your tum there, did I scratch your hand? I guess my claws are a little sharp. Ok ok, how about I sit up here on the rim of the couch and look at you instead. Hey...it's comfy up here. It's warm. I'm getting sleeeeeeeepy. Yawn. Ok Mom, share that picture you took at school today, I'll see ya later *snooooooooooooze*

Purrrrrrrr,

Ariel

P.S. (this is Mom talking now) Look at what I made at school today, since there was only one kid and me left for abut 30 minutes at the end of the day! Yes, it's only about 2 inches shorter than me. And yes...I did use every Lego block in the bin. It's awesome, ok?

Meet Ariel!

Hi everyone! I'm Ariel, the Disney kitten! Sorry this isn't the most flattering picture of me, but I was caught off guard (Mom keeps trying to sneak up and get cute pictures of me...weird) Mom and Dad brought me home yesterday from the animal shelter, and I'm having a fun time already. Mostly I love love love to play with this feather toy that is attached to a fish (?) (yea, I am a kitty and even I don't get it) and explore everywhereeeeeee in this apartment. Dad says I'm cute, fun, and spunky, and Mom just rolls her eyes at him cause duhhhh I'm so much more than thatttttt. I'm basically planning on being the princess of this place, and Mom says I can even post on here sometimes, so get ready to hear all about me me ME!

Uh oh, time to go, I see something super interesting out the window byeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I know it's the New Year, but...

I am having some seriously ridiculous cravings right now.

And none are for healthy foods.

I really really really want these:

And how amazing does the recipe sound??!!?! (Beer-Battered Onion Rings)

Or this would also be tasty right now:

The recipe sounds FANTASTIC!! (Gingerbread Popcorn)

...but I'd settle for someone bringing me some Panara Mac n Cheese. That stuff is GOOOOOOD!

Hehehehehehe, now is where you get jealous though. We are having that EXACT mac n cheese recipe for dinner next week (yesssssssss). Panera actually has the recipe available here omgomgomg

Here's to being hungry for food that is bad for youuuuuuuuuu!

Moving On in 2012

So.

It's the new year.

And I made a bunch of resolutions, or as a friend wrote on her Tumblr "re-solutions" which I happen to like.

AND, today was my first day back at school!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

...it stunk. For me at least.

It snowed last night so I was in a tizzy trying to leave this morning, and ended up looking like I was ready to explore Antarctica (just ask Ben), and then got to school, where I found out we don't go out when the temp is super cold. Plus, somehow over the course of the morning, I got incredibly sweaty, which always makes me feel gross.

Basically, as I was driving home this afternoon I was in a ROTTEN mood. Like, seriously rotten. As in...eat an entire carton of ice cream and not feel guilty about it cause you feel awful rotten.

Then I just decided to accept that my day was probably going to be bad, and got over it. I CHOSE to look on the bright side instead.

And although our apartment was freezing when I got home, I made myself a mug of tea and Skyped with my little sister, which definitely made my day more cheerful.

Also. Nachos tonight!

Moral? I can actively try to make my day better if I think about it.

I think.
